In Cyprus- Nicosia we are going to organize a poetry event on 24th of September 11:30 – 13.30.

We will be giving out poetry leaflets in three languages (Turkish, Greek and English) at the check- point in Nicosia wearing special t-shirts with verses of a recently passed away Turkish Cypriot poet.

11.30- Şairler Özel Tişörtlerle Lokmacı ve Büyük Han civarında şiir dağıtacaklar. Dilara Aşardağ’ın dansı eşliğinde Fikret Demirağ’ın “Kardeşim, Barışı ne zaman yapacağız?” şiiri okunacak.
18.30- Cadı Kazanı Kafe’de şiir dinletisi ve açık mikrofon.

Morning event:
Starting from 11.30 the poets will gather at the Turkish Cypriot side of the dividing line in Nicosia with specially designed T-shirts with a verse of the recently passed away poet Fikret Demirag which reads as :”My Brother, When are we going to make the Peace?” We will be giving out leaflets with poems in English, Turkish and Greek to the passers-by.This poem will be read during the event accompanied by the dance of Dilara Asardag. We will be livestraming the events .

Evening event:
Starting from 18.30 we will have a poetry reading at Cadı Kazanı Cafe at 27, Tanzimat Str. Nicosia

( The word brother here is “Kardeshim” in Turkish and does not have a gender. This is a word known by all communities in Cyprus and reflects bonding and togetherness”. This poem will be read during the event accompanied by the dance of Dilara Asardag. We will be livestreaming the events .
