Poets Against Hunger and Homelessness

All Poets, Artists, and Musicians in the Rochester and WNY region are invited to join this worldwide creative action for change. In Rochester, we will cook, serve, perform, and share the call for an end to hunger and homelessness in our communities.

All Poets, Artists, and Musicians in the Rochester and WNY region are invited to join this worldwide creative action for change. In Rochester, we will cook, serve, perform, and share the call for an end to hunger and homelessness in our communities.
Some of the highlights of our day of action are:
Musicians and Poets will create a slam/jam space Noon – 4 pm
We will cook and serve a Community Dinner 4-6 pm
Poetry and Music 6-10 pm (featured poets tba soon)
The planning for this event is accelerating, and we are excited about the 11 am til 10pm confluence of poets and artists coming to the Flying Squirrel Community Space in Rochester NY. Writers and Books is working with us on special features from 7-10 pm (after their block party is over at their location). This event WILL HAPPEN and it WILL be at the Flying Squirrel Community Space 285 Clarissa St. A new website is set up up to handle updates and scheduling is http://tiny.cc/wqimw We will have video (hopefully live streaming), but certainly taped performances to upload, and interviews with participating poets.

We will be videotaping the entire day and posting the video online.
The website has now changed and there is a new poster with the final schedule. We are very excited about the ASL poets “Flying Words”–Kenny Lerner and Peter Cook who will be performing from 8-8:30 pm.
A strange update on the 24th — all events between 12:26 and 1:38 are listed as “happening now”!! I assume whoever was updating was trying to sound “current” but forgot to put the “past” events in the past tense.
On the other hand, I can’t believe all those things were happening in just over 1 hour, i.e. Colleen Powderly reading poetry, Matt Shackelford reading poetry, Paulette Swartzfager reading poetry, Alan Murphy reading poetry with Mighty High and Dry, Mighty High playing, new items from Rochester Indymedia, ASL poetry with Eddie Swayze, Laura Klinkon reading, Dwain Wilder reading, Ryan Cupp reading!
And why did all the details stop for the rest of the day!
