  1. SAVE THE DESERT!
College of the Desert creative students and friends will read “SAVE THE DESERT- WHY THIS PLACE MATTERS!” original poems for a “live” reading that will be filmed, poet by poet in individual film clips, against a backdrop of California desert photographs taken at stunning and irreplacable, one-of-a-kind locations through the Mojave Desert. We’ll showcase spoken word, haiku, pantoums, poems about why the desert matters to us – all of us – and hope to transform global perception of this region as a desolate wasteland into one of urgent, and active, protection against unprecedented environmental threats that put our remaining desert wildlands into the brink of ecologic destruction – in part due to renewable energy plans to turn the CA deserts into a massive solar/wind technology zone in the very near future. Visit our blog site after Sept 27 for the film clips of our reading! And don’t forget: love the desert along with us, and help us save our world’s iconic Mojave Desert!
