  1. 15TH SEPTEMBER 2011

That’s right, folks. We’ll be part of the global poetry event 100,000 Poets For Change with our reading on Sunday, September 25 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the hip, slick Shorebreak Hotel on the water in Huntington Beach.

Poetic lineup includes UCI MFAs Chris Davidson and Sue Cronmiller with Manuel Gomez, UCI Vice Chancellor Emeritus. Others yet unconfirmed, but will keep you posted with updates as more info becomes available.

Featured reading will be followed by an open mike session. Slots for the open session are available on a first come, first served basis. So get on it, friends! Comment to this post or tweet us if interested.

The goal of poetryXchange is and always will be to strengthen our community through quality programming in the literary arts. This is just the start.

Thanks again to the California Council for the Humanities and University-Community Links at UC Berkeley for supporting our work at the El Sol Academy in Santa Ana.

excerpt of “Ariel’s Song” from Shakespeare’s The Tempest

Full fathom five thy father lies
Of his bones are coral made
Those are pearls that were his eyes
Nothing of him that doth change
    But doth suffer a sea-change
    Into something rich and strange.

The poetryXchange’s Sea Change Reading will take place in the big, beautiful meeting room by the outdoor lounge and firepit. Come early for dinner at Zimzala. Stay for drinks and blather in the lounge.
