  2. Death Threats
    A Poem

    Ocean rolls in quicker thunder
    than I have heard before
    I come to feel quiet
    and reflective
    but the ocean
    roars…
    spewing oily epithets
    at my repose
    choking
    wave by wave
    coughing up a wicked phlegm
    of garbage
    of sewage
    of the pieces
    of its own plundered heart
    and I hear
    no sound of solitude
    but shouted death threats
    scattered
    in sea shell elegance…
