Sneak preview of LA radio show for 100,000 Poets and Musicians for Change!!

On Saturday,Sept. 19th poets and musicians gathered at the LA Radio Studio in San Pedro in the Los Angeles Harbor district to record a show, hosted by RRC’s Lee Ballinger, that will be broadcast continuously this coming weekend. September 26 is the annual 100,000 Poets and Musicians for Change celebration, where there are hundreds of cultural events staged all over the world under the banner of “Peace and Sustainability.”

Is the first international independent festival of MIME arts takes place in Egypt, held in cooperation with some of the most important cultural institutions; in order to increase the area of expression for artists mime to communicate their opinions and ideas of contemporary society and to participate together in the implementation of their presentations to the theaters or open spaces to help change the way we see the local community and the world.

On that day we ask literature institutions and writers to fly a white flag.

We want to take a stand for a different treatment of refugees: for respecting their human rights.

What Can You Do?

Fly a white flag (e.g. made of napkins, bed linen, table cloth,…) from your window or balcony. It should say “refugees welcome” and “100 000 poets for change”.

100 Thousand Poets for Change World Conference
June 3 – June 8 2015 in Salerno, Italy!

100 TPC organizers from over 30 countries have contacted us to express their interest and enthusiasm in seeing this world conference happen. So, we are working very hard to make it happen!

The 100 Thousand Poets for Change World Conference is an amazing opportunity for us to come together. Finally, we will all be able to sit in one room and discuss our concerns and our dreams for the future of 100 Thousand Poets for Change, as well as share our poetry and activism with organizers from all over the world!

Terri Carrion and Michael Rothenberg co-founders of 100 TPC and regional organizers, 100 TPC Salerno and The Alfonso Gatto Cultural Foundation will be coordinating this 5 day conference consisting of meetings and gatherings for 100TPC organizers, dinners and poetry readings, music events, a day long festival of poetry, dance, art and more, public lectures and workshops, as well as a tour of historic Salerno and a day trip to Pompeii!

atrani_salerno_500Meetings and events will be held at the beautiful Monumental Complex of St. Sofia in the historic center of Salerno. Salerno is a small city in the Campania region (south-western Italy) and is the capital of the province of the same name. It is located on the Gulf of Salerno on the Tyrrhenian Sea. Salerno is the main town close to the famous and beautiful Amalfi Coast.

Granada, Spain named City of Literature by UNESCO!

Congratulations to Ivonne Sanchez Barea for making Granada, Spain the first Spanish language city to be named City of Literature by UNESCO!
396px-Escudo_de_Granada_svg copiaDear friends and subscribers, supporters, and all those that joined the campaign for the City of GRANADA to become part of the circuit of UNESCO as capital of the Creative Cities Network.

On December 1, 2014, the City of Granada was named Capital of Literature.

It is the first Spanish language speaking city to be appointed, and this will be for the benefit of culture, poetry, literature and all cultural expression.

All your contributions have helped make this dream a reality.

Congratulations to GRANADA and to all.
